The Rymond family was of great interest to me, however, it seemed like time was never on my side to get some of this done. The following contains most of the information I have done on this family. If you have any additional information I will gladly add it. If you are of the family and would like to work on any particular line, I will be glad to help. Larry Hillpot

 

1 PAUL RYMOND Born between 1730-1740 and died by October 1807. He married May 2, 1760 at St. Peter=s Reformed Margaret Schick, Margaret was the daughter of John and Anna Schick. Since Fran did send me this as a time line, I too will present it in the same fashion.

 

1759- St Peter=s (Tohickon) Reformed page 105. Paul Reymond and Gertrude Wolfinger sponsored baptism of son of Adam and Anna Maria Adamy/Adams John Adamy was born 3 Nov 1759.

1760- St Peter=s (Tohickon) Reformed Page 215 Paul Reymond and Margaret Schick were married 2 May 1760 note: Nockamixon-96 burials: AOn John Henrich=s burial place was buried Anna Schick, wife of the late John Schick born at Wachstatte, in Wurtenberg 5 Mar 1704 [recorded as 1794!] died 30 Jun 1757, buried 1 Jul 1767, aged 63y 3m 25d

15 JOHN MICHAEL RYMOND Born April 13/17 1775. Died September 22, 1845 aged 70y 5m 5d. He married twice. His second marriage was to Mary Magdalena ____?  She was born April 29, 1778 died August 24, 1845 aged 67 y 3m 25d. They are both buried in St. Luke=s Union, Ferndale, old cemetery .

155 PAUL RYMOND Born 1816 died 1876. Married Lucy Ann Strouse, April 30, 1840. The St. Luke=s Lutheran Church records page 350 shows Paul of Nockamixon and Ann Strauss of Tinicum. Ann was born 1819 died 1890. Further information will be needed here there is a Louisanna Strouse born Feb. 14, 1819, baptized May 2, 1819 the daughter of Frederick and Catharine Straus at St. Luke=s in Nockamixon, my guess is that she is this same person. The are buried Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church Section A. Row 7. Paul Rymond is shown in the 1850 page 273-B census as a farmer living in Nockamixon aged 33 years owning real estate valued at $500. Grantor Index: This indenture made the seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety one between Hugh Rymond and John Rymond executors of the last will and testament of Paul Rymond late of Nockamixon, County of Bucks... one part and Samuel Reinbold of the same place of the other part, Whereas Paul Rymond in his lifetime became seized in his dementia as of fee in certain real estate .. Made his last will and testament bearing date the 3d day of February 1876 and duly proven and probated the 26th day of February A.D. 1876 and remaining record in the Registers office at Doylestown...Now this indenture witnessed that the said Hugh Rymond and John Rymond Executors aforesaid in consideration of the sum of six hundred and ninety dollars lawful money... paid by the said Samuel Reinbold at and before the delivering... All that certain message linement and tract of land situated in the Township of Tinicum and Nockamixon bordered and described as follows to Wit beginning at a corner of Henry Trouts... Wm Cochran... Nancy Trouts... Jonas Hilberts land etc... containing 78 acres and 40 perches... Recorded April 4th 1894.

1512 MAHLON RYMOND  Born ___ 1836 died 1906 married Sarah ______?  She was born 1833, died 1917. They are buried at  lot 45 in the Point Pleasant Baptist Cemetery. They are shown in Plumsteadville, Mahlon a boatsman in the 1880 census with a daughter Savannah who was born about 1861

1551 LEVI RYMOND Born September 20, 1840, baptized at St. Luke=s in Nockamixon Nov. 15, 1840, the sponsors were Moses Louder and Mary Strauss. Levi married Mary T., or C. as it appears on the tombstone. She was born November 24, 1844, died April 16, 1874, aged 29 years 4 months and 22 days UTLC. There are two Tinicum township stones that seem to show the appearance that they had at least two children Anna L. died Nov. 1886 the daughter of Levi, and Mary T. Rymond and buried next to her is Johnny Rymond b. 30 Jul. 1868 d. 18 Feb. 1871 also the son of Levi and Mary.

 

 

1553 MARY RYMOND Born May, 1846. Died July 1915, no tombstone, will need UTLC records to confirm [T. Myers said George was probably the son of Leonard Strouse.  In the 1880 census it appears Mary was age 36 George a boatman, may be 46 years of age, hard to see, they had the following children: Anna age 14; Leonard aged 11; George aged 6 and grandmother aged 86 at home sewing  Married George H. Strouse. 1900 census shows George, born December 1834. Died September 12, 1915. 1900 census shows they had 6 children, 3 still living.  Intell July 1915: Mrs. Mary Strouse, who for the past seven years has been confined to her bed with rheumatism, died on Thursday, July 1, at her home in Upper Black Eddy. Deceased is survived by her aged husband, one daughter, Anna Strouse, of Philadelphia; two sons, George, of Phillipsburg and Fred of New Mexico.  Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the upper Tinicum Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. S. S. Diehl. Interment was made in Upper Tinicum cemetery.  Intell September 16, 1915: George Strouse of Upper Black Eddy, died on Monday at the home of his son, George Strouse, Jr., at Belvidere, where he had been cared for since the death of his wife about three months ago.  Deceased is survived by one daughter, Miss Anna Strouse, of Philadelphia, and two sons, Fred Strouse of Denver, Col., and George Strouse, Jr., of Belvidere, N. J.  Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. S. Diehl. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Since I am aware there are 6 children, I will add as they are found and correct the number sequence.

1555 HUGH RYMOND Born June 24, 1848 in Bucks County, Pa., he was baptized May 5, 1849 at St. Luke=s in Nockamixon, sponsors were the parents. Died October 24, 1901and is buried at Upper Tinicum Lutheran Cemetery. Hugh married Sarah Houseworth January 7, 1875. Sarah was the eldest daughter of John L. Houseworth.  At the time of marriage they were both of Nockamixon and were married at the Riegelsville Lutheran pars., by Rev. T. Heilig. Sarah was born January 1854. Sarah died in June 8, 1932 and is buried at Milford Union Cemetery, Milford, New Jersey. Hugh was a boatman in Bucks county.  and is buried at Upper Tinicum Lutheran Cemetery. The 1870 census, Hugh, aged 22, boating on the canal, living at home with parents Paul and Lucy Ann who had real estate valued at $1500 and personal Value of estate shown as $1500, also shown are brothers John, Jacob and Henry and sister Emaline.  The 1900 census shows Hugh a boatman living next to George H. Strouse and Hugh=s sister, Mary C. Strouse. The 1910 census shows Sarah as head of household with the following with her; son, John H. aged 33; Son Howard, aged 26; Liverie aged 18 and grandchild Edna Singley aged 8 years. The following is her obituary of June 17, 1932 in Intell.: Mrs. Sarah, widow of Hugh Rymond, died Wednesday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Singley, Upper Black Eddy.  Deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters; John Rymond, Mrs. William Singley and Howard Rymond, Upper Black Eddy; Harry Rymond, Pennsville, N. J.;  Mrs. Theodore Templeton, Milford, N. J.; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and a sister, Orville Houseworth, Ferndale; John Houseworth, Milford, N. J. Mrs. Samuel Frankenfield, Upper Black Eddy.  Mrs. Rymond was a member of the Milford Christian Church.

1557 JACOB RYMOND Born 1851 died April 12, 1936. Married Rachel Smith, both of Nockamixon at the time of marriage March 8, 1873 at Riegelsville Lutheran pars., by Rev. T. Heilig. Rachel Smith was born in 1856 and died 1913. There is a Jacob Rymond, probably this is the correct one in the 1910 census, Enumeration District 0030 Visit 0227 living in Easton, Northampton Co., Pa. There is shown wife Rachel aged 54 years, son, Frank, age 18; daughter Evalyn aged 26 and son-in-law Frank Vanzandt of Pennsylvania aged 29. In addition are two grandchildren Pearl aged 6 and Mabel aged 4 years. For now I will add these 2 children in there of course is the possibility there are more. Intell April 17, 1936: Jacob Rymond  Sr., 85 years old, died Sunday, April 12, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Fretz, 134 East Wilkes-Barre street, Easton. He had been in declining health for several years and had been bedfast since last October.  Mr. Rymond was born near Uhlertown, Bucks county, and foe a number of years followed boating as a career.

15551 JOHN HOWARD RYMOND Born January 30, 1877 Upper Black Eddy, Bridgeton Twp., Bucks County. Died April 7, 1950, in Upper Black Eddy. He married Agnes M. Lutz Doyle, date and location unknown. She was born April 12, 1886 in Philadelphia, the daughter of William E. Doyle and Mary A. Kitchenman (other spouse listed as Alfred William Weessock). Agnes died April 28, 1975 in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, N. J. Agnes was a homemaker and John worked as a laborer, Riegel Paper Co., and boatman. John ran a barge on the Delaware Canal for the Lehigh Valley Canal Company. He hauled coal from the coal regions to New Hope, Doylestown, & Easton, Pa. He was then put out of work when the Delaware Canal shut down in 1932. They are buried in Milford Union Cemetery, Milford, N. J. The 1920 census in Philadelphia, roll 1624 enumeration district 374 page 9A the are living at 173 East Berks Street and also shown are the 2 children born of Agnes= first marriage, Gilbert and Alfred Wessock. Les sent me SSI index showing Alfred was born 2 Jan 1908 and died 7 Jul 1997 living at Eddington, Bucks County.

15552 HARRY RYMOND Born November 1878, Bucks County, Pa. Listed as Henry Rymond on 1880 census. He was a boatman, Bucks County, Pa. Fireman in Philadelphia. No further information.

 

 


15553 BERTHA RYMOND Born October 1881 in Pa. Married William T. Singley October 19, 1901 at the parsonage in Upper Black Eddy. On the group sheet I have received it shows his date of birth as 1881. On the 1883-1928 Upper Tin. Lutheran Church there is a William Singley who was born the son of John and Rebecca Singley on Jan. 27, 1880, and baptized September 11, 1883. In addition to William there was a Charles and Annie who were baptized the same date. Annie was born Jun. 20, 1883 and Charles was born Aug. 4, 1881. William owned a grocery store in Upper Black Eddy and it is shown they both died in the year 1958.
