THE FIRST GENERATION OVERPECK FAMILY
1 ANDREAS OBERBECK Born August 24, 1684 or 94 in Weisenheim-am-Sand, Pfaltz, Germany. Died 1765 in Nockamixon Twp. Bucks Co. He was the son of Adrian Oberbeck and Maria. Andreas married Elisabetha Drach January 30, 1714 in Ddannstadt, Pfaltz, Germany. Elizabeth Drach was born 1692 the daughter of Johann Peter Drach and Anna Christina Metzger in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Germany. Maria Elisabetha Drach was baptized December 13, 1692, Gross-Umstadt, Odenwald. She died 1774 in Bedminster Twp. Bucks Co. In 1732 the Drach family immigrated from Rotterdam on the ship Johnson on September 19, 1732 from Rotterdam. Andreas arrived on the ship Johnson September 19, 1732, see Rupps page 75. Andreas was naturalized April 3, 1743 in Philadelphia and was in the Revolutionary war. They had the following children

Johan married 1st Margaret ______? Married 2nd Angesia Magdalena Muckley ca. 1775 in Nockamixon (reference DAR Patriot Index Ens Pa.) Agnesia was born July 2, 1749 in Lower Milford Twp. Bucks Co. The daughter of David Muckley and Anna Barbara. Agnesia died January 15, 1822. They had 3 children

Marie was the daughter of Valentine and Anna _____ Houswrit. Conrad as he will be called here forward married Christina Klein (Kline) she was born September 13, 1788 the daughter of Johann Jacob Klein and Eva Elizabeth Heilig in Lower Milford Twp. 1261 MAGDALENA OVERPECK The following information on this family line was sent to me by Joan Overpeck and carries a great deal of information pertaining to her family line. I thank her for the contribution. Magdalena Overpeck was born August 9, 1781 in Bucks County, Pa., and died October 14, 1854 in Mansfield, In. She is buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. (AKA Mary or Mary Magdalena) She married Jacob Overpeck, Jr., October 22, 1801 in Shenanendoah Co., Va. Notes of Jacob Overpeck, Jr., The fathers of Jacob and magdalene were brothers. So first cousins married. All of their children except Sarah and Susannah came from Butler Co. Ohio to Parke Co. In. about 1837. The date of birth of Jacob, Jr., is not known at this time and the possible date of death is January 30, 1874.

12A3 ELIZABETH OVERPECK Born December 7, 1813, Nockamixon. Died January 1, 1901 in Nockamixon. St. Luke's Lutheran aged 87 years 0M and 24 days. Married Francis Rapp of Nockamixon, April 24, 1831 by Rev H.S. Miller, It appears Francis died February 16, 1885 aged 78Y 8M 22D. If so Francis is the son of George Rapp and Maria and he was born May 25, 1806 bap. St. Luke's, Nockamixon July 13, 1806 sponsors John Ulmer and Maria Magd. Rapp. 1850 census Francis is a carpenter living in Nockamixon having $6000.00 in real estate. It also shows George age 14 as well. Note ther is a St. Lukes Nock record page 103 dau. From his county record of death, a farmer, suffered 7 years of Rheumatism and was buried in Nockamixon January 7, 1903. 1900 census they were married ca. 1847, they are living in Bridgeton, own a farm, had 2 children both deceased. Intell shows Aaron Conrad son of Aaron and Catharine in Nock died Oct. 17, 1865 age 1 year?? 12A51 12A52

Married Isaac Rapp. Isaac was born November 29, 1814 the son of George Rapp and Maria on January 15, 1815, the sponsors were Jacob Kraus and Catharine Ulmer at St. Luke's in Nockamixon. Isaac died August 23, 1879 aged 64Y 8M 24D. 1850 census born ca. 1815 a carpenter $1400 in real estate, living in Nockamixon, 1 child Emaline age 9 They are buried St. Luke's Union Church. 12A7 CATHARINE OVERPECK Born December 26, 1824. Died November 13, 1903 married 1st John Hillpot Lear on December 27, 1845. John was born in Nockamixon July 27, 1817, died December 27, 1868. Baptized the son of Conrad and Catharine (sometimes shown as Christine Overpeck) on August 26, 1827 at St. Luke's the sponsors were Samuel and Catharine Heller. Married Elizabeth Weidemeyer October 20, 1850 (Doylestown Intell.) By Rev. William B. Kaemmer (Lutheran minister at Keller's, Richlandtown and Hilltown) Eliza Anna was born April 6, 1829. Baptized the daughter of Jacob Weydemeyer and Catharina October 24, 1830 at Lower Tinicum Reformed Church the sponsors were Saml Killmer and wife Elizabeth. Eliza died February 1, 1909. In 1850 Henry is living with his parents age 23 and a carpenterin Nockamixon. Henry K. is listed as a carpenter in Tinicum with a mortgaged farm. Both Henry K. and Elisa were of Nockamixon at the time of marriage and both are buried in Ferndale. They had 12 children, of which 10 were still alive in the 1900 census. 12A71 FRANKLIN O. LEAR Born May 24, 1847. Confirmed at St. Lukes in Nockamixon in 1869 at the age of 17. Died April 9, 1928. Married 1st Elizabeth Riegel in 1872. She was born November 29, 1849 the daughter of Issac Riegel and Rosina Tettermer. Elizabeth died March 6, 1903. She is buried at Row 2 New Cemetery St. Lukes Union in Nockamixon. Frank married 2nd Mary Bauer July 8, 1916. Both of Bethlehem at the time of marriage, see records of St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Nockamixon. Obits: Frank died at Bethlehem Pa. He was ill for less than a month, Franklin O. Lear died on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his home, 518 Bradley Street, aged 80 years 11 months and 15 days. He was born in Nockamixon Twp. on May 24th 1847, a son of John H. and Catherine, nee Overpeck. Mr. Lear of late years was employed as a watchman, at the foundry of the Bethlehem Steel Co. He was a member of the St. Marks Lutheran Church and of the Lehigh Hook and Ladder Co. There survive his 2 daughters, Elmira at home and Mrs Nathan Ziegenfuss, of Bethlehem 2 brothers Clinton O. Lear of Ferndale and John C. Lear of Ferndale, and 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at his late home and at the Union Church at Nockamixon, followed by interment in the cemetery adjoining the church. Reuben was born in Tinicum June 1, 1845 the eldest son of Isaac and Rachel Haney. Died May 29, 1929 at 1241 Allegheny Ave. Phila. Pa. See Hillpot Family Index # 34521. Reuben was a farmer and a carpenter until his retirement in 1914. They had relocated to Philadelphia. He was a member of the reformed Church of Tinicum. See Doylestwn Intell June 14, 1929. Melcher on December 3, 1881 Mary was born September __ , 1862 in Plumsteadville. She died prior to 1915. In 1915 James was living in Ottsville, I could not locate a tombstone in Bucks Co. He is shown as James B. as a child then James W. as an adult. They had about 13 children. The Free Spirit Hatboro October 8, 1921; After an illness that has lasted for some time, James B. Overpeck died in Doylestown at the age of 65 years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Overpeck and was born in Tinicum twp. Mrs. Overpeck died 13 years ago. Before he moved to Doylestown, he was an active and prosperous farmer. He is survived by 3 brothers Aaron S. and Edward W. of Doylestown, and Clinton of Fox Chase; seven sons Henry Overpeck of Wycombe; Aaron Overpeck, of Carversville; Edgar Ovepeck, of Souderton; Elmer Overpeck, of Hatfield; and Harvey, Norman and David of California; five daughters, Miss Iva Overpeck, of Boyertown; Mrs. Charles Iliff, Miss Catharine Overpeck, Miss Anna Overpeck and Miss Elsie Overpeck of Philadelphia; six sisters: Mrs. Jacob Steely, of Ottsville; Mrs. Reuben Harvey, of Philadelphia, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Albert Yost of Easton; Mrs. Philip Fluck, of Danboro; Mrs. Benjamin Johnson of Doylestown, and Mrs. Ulysses Strouse, of Landisville. On marriage application Benjamin a farm hand 24 years old the son of Garrett and Catharine Johnson of Tinicum Twp Matilda married 2nd Ulysses Grant Strouse September 9, 1933 (recorded in marriage book 108 page 146) This may prove to be confusing since Matilda claims her parents are Wolfinger. Ulysses was married to Matilda's Sister Anna Laura Overpeck until her death. He was born December 11, 1868 in Gardenville. Died Monday August 4, 1954. See Strouse Family #13A74 Ulysses G. Strouse. Doylestown Inell Obits; Benjamin Johnson 9/2/1925: Benjamin B. Johnson died at his home at 175 Harvey avenue, Doylestown, after having been ill about a week at the age of 70 years. About a week before his death he attended a harvest home service in the vicinity of Ottsville and shortly after was confined to his bed. For the past few years Mr. Johnson was an employee of the borough. Previous to that time he had a farm near Ottsville. Besides his wife Matilda W. Johnson, is survived by 2 sons, Ira O. Johnson and Webster Johnson; three daughters, Mrs. Grover C. Beans, Mrs. Alice Weirbach and Miss Rosetta Johnson, and a sister, Mrs. Mary J. Lutz. Marriage application shows Aaron a carpenter of Philadelphia , Alice living in Chalfont the daughter of William W.and Elizabeth Sherm. Alice died May 7, 1933. Aaron married 2nd January 16, 1937, Lillie Prock who was divorced June 6, 1932. Lillie was born July 31, 1881 in Missouri the daughter of Valentine Prock of Germany and Charlotte Baumbauch, Valentine a native of Unteralba, Germany died at age 92 in Doylestown on October 5, 1940. Lillie died December 15, 1964. Doylestown Intell Obits; Aaron S. Overpeck aet 94, died Sunday at the Doylestown Hospital. He had been hospitalized for two weeks. He was the husband of Lillie Prock Overpeck. Born in Tinicum Twp. He was the son of Henry K. Overpeck and Eliza Ann Weidemeyer. He had lived in Doylestown since 1910, coming here from Oak Lane. He was a builder in the Philadelphia area. Aaron has a letter of removal at Lower Tinicum Church October 1, 1892. He was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hilltown. Ulysses was born December 11, 1868 in Gardenville the son of Amos Strouse and Susanna Wolfinger. Ulysses died Monday August 4, 1954 in Doylestown. From the marriage application Ulysses a farmer from Gardenville and Anna a tailoress from Ottsville, cosent was given by Anna's father since she was 20 years of age. After the death of Anna Laura, Ulysses married 2nd September 9, 1933 (#11386) Anna Laura' younger sister Matilda who was the widow of Benjamin B. Johnson. This is a little difficult to find since the marriage certificate has several untruths. For additional information on this family see Strouse Family #13A74 by this compiler.
